By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Bellingham Board of Selectmen will be getting a water quality update tonight as the town has been dealing with elevated levels of Trihalomenthanes in the town’s water supply. A by-product, when chlorine is used for disinfection. The town has been working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The chemicals don’t impose an immediate health risk, however, there are some long-term health risks. Bellingham Town officials say good progress has been made but it’s not a quick fix. New lab equipment has been purchased to be more pro-active moving forward and they’ve brought in engineers to undertake a detailed filtration plant operation study.
