Construction work on Freedom Bridge in Hopedale is expected to get underway in just about a week from now. Hopedale Town Administrator Steve Sette says the Rhode Island contractor that won the bid to do the work will have until November 20th to complete the project. The Aetna Bridge Company of Warwick agreed to do the work at a cost of $433,000. The Freedom Bridge was becoming a safety concert because the support beams needed to be replaced. Other work will be done as well including new curbing and railing for the bridge that runs across the Hopedale Pond dam. Sette says the contractor has a 90 day window to complete the project with the work expected to get underway around September 7th.
