By MyFM's Jake Archer - On Friday afternoon it was reported that the Boston Celtics had signed free agent center Greg Monroe to the roster. Now, things seemed to have stalled as the team is waiting until after Thursday's NBA trade deadline to maintain flexibility. Monroe has reportedly arrived in Boston and in all likelihood will be officially signed once the Celtics feel they have done all of their maneuvering.
Monroe chose the Celtics over the New Orleans Pelicans after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns and clearing waivers. He'll reportedly sign a one year deal worth $5 million to join Boston for their run at a title. The Celtics haven't made any guarantees to the big man about what type of playing time he'll have, but he'll likely play a valuable role off of the bench with his scoring ability in the low post and his rebounding prowess. If he can commit to defense, he'll be a fantastic fit with this group.
