By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Massachusetts State Police are searching for the owner of a drone that came within 100-feet of a state police helicopter making its way from Holliston to Newburyport yesterday morning. A State Police spokesman says the copter was passing over Lawrence Airport shortly after eleven o’clock yesterday morning when the pilot noticed the two-to-three foot wide drone and took evasive action to avoid a collision. If it hit the windshield, with the copter travelling at 120-miles per hour, it could’ve ended up as a fatal crash. State Police say it’s illegal to operate drones within five-miles of an airport or higher than 400-feet. The copter was flying at near 600-feet and landed safely after the near-miss in the air.
