Douglas Fire Displaces several People

By MyFm's Rick Michaels - The Douglas Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall’s Office is now investigating the three alarm fire early yesterday morning which caused extensive damage to an apartment house on Depot Street in Douglas. Fortunately everyone was able to safely evacuate the home and no firefighters were injured. The blaze broke out just before three o’clock yesterday morning, with plenty of smoke and then flames shooting out the windows on the top floor of the apartment house, which contained seven units, displacing residents who, thanks to working smoke alarms going off in the middle of the night, were all able to get out safely. Mutual aid from several towns including Mendon, Uxbridge, Northbridge and Millville helped to bring the fire under control and kept the historical structure, from becoming a total loss.
