By MyFM's Rick Micahels - The Franklin Town Council will meet tonight and listen to a presentation from the Police Departmentand also discuss six-zoning bylaw amendments, aimed at increasing the likelihood, certain properties would be redeveloped. Councilors will hear about some of the future concerns of the Police Department like the several developments, which will increase the town's population by as much as a thousand residents. The Council will be told the Police Station is currently at full capacity there’s no additional office space or storage available and there are parking issues. Others topic will be the Regional Dispatch Center, set to open in early April proactive measures being considered due to the anticipated increase in impaired drivers, with the legalization of Marijuana and overdoes incidents in Franklin, in 2018 there were 41 overdoses 7 deaths and so far this year five OD’s and one-fatal. The Council will review the first four zoning by-law amendments, which establishes a new mixed business innovation zoning district the remaining two zoning by-law amendments will rezone seven parcels of land, including the former Clark, Cutler & McDermott property all designed to attract commercial business to those areas.
