Germaine H. (Harnois) Grenon,97, passed away Wed. June 13, 2018 at Saint Antoine’s Residence in North Smithfield, RI. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Grenon Jr. who died in 1973.
At the age of 16, Mrs. Grenon began working in the woolen mills in Woonsocket and was later employed as a wire twister for Miller Electric for more than 10 years. She met her late husband Leo, and they were married on June 28, 1941.
Mrs. Grenon was born July 4, 1920 in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada the daughter of the late Ovila and Melina (Cournoyer) Harnois. She was raised in Woonsocket and attended Catholic schools. She had been a resident of Woonsocket, RI before moving to Millville 30 years ago.
Germaine enjoyed bingo, word search books, tatting, lottery ticket scratching, attending casino’s and especially caring for her family.
Mrs. Grenon is survived by her children, Ovila and Diane Grenon of Bellingham, Ronald Grenon and his wife Carol of Douglas, Suzanne Grenon Lanoue of Whitinsville, and Gilbert Grenon of Uxbridge, 15 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Normand Harnois of Norwich, CT, Roland and Carol Harnois of Pompano Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Harnois, a brother, Paratrooper Rene D. Harnois who died in Sicily in WW II at the age of 20 and her son Richard Grenon formerly of FL.
Visiting hours will be held Tues., June 19, 2018 from 6-8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME 101 No. Main St. (Rt. 122), Uxbridge.
Funeral services will be Wed. June 20, 2018 at 10 AM from the funeral home follow by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Augustine Church, 15 Lincoln St., Millville.
Burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Wrentham Rd., Bellingham. www.bumafuneralhome.com
