By MyFM's Rick Michaels-The Town of Hopedale’s annual drinking water quality report has been released citing several improvements to the system, to ensure the town provides the highest quality of water available. The report says in anticipation for high consumption the town’s wells were cleaned and inspected, in order to keep potential withdrawal rates, as high as possible. In an effort to cut pump costs, the Hopedale Water Department began to install an underground raw water storage tank, which should be on-line and running by the end of Summer. This in-house project is expected to save the department, over 200-thousand dollars once complete. There were also major upgrades to the disinfection system and to the computer software program. Meanwhile meter replacement in town is nearing completion and a complete flushing and cleaning of all water mains was done throughout the town. The town of Mendon purchases water from Hopedale and you can find out more information about the quality of water just go to the Hopedale or Mendon town website.
