ByMyFm's Rick Michaels - The Boys Scouts of Troop 1 in Hopedale, on an overnight camping trip found themselves assisting rescue efforts, when a young man fell off the Provincetown II Ferry and into the waters of the Boston Harbor last Saturday night. Scoutmaster Robert Jackson says the troop was camping out on Peddocks Island discussing man overboard drills, when a passing ship suddenly stopped and blue lights were seen grabbing a radio they discovered the issue was a man overboard. Jackson says a few of the scouts took the initiative to help while Assistant Scoutmaster Scott Seaver and Mark Andolina, took the boat to help with the search Scoutmaster Jackson says the scouts applied what they’ve learned with confidence and for three hours continued to search the shore with State Police and the Coast Guard contacting them several times to request specific search areas. Meanwhile the scouts were dividing up assignments if the man made it to the shore, calling 9-1-1, who enters the water to help and reviewing the ways to treat Hypothermia.
