By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Hopkinton board of selectmen will be holding a public hearing next month to determine what recommendation to make regarding the possible issuance of a kennel license for Greyhound Friends. In a letter from the Town Counsel to the Hopkinton Town Manager the state issued a cease and desist order based on several inspections at the Greyhound Friends facility in January of last year. Since, that time the kennel license which is issued annually in Hopkinton expired. If the kennel site is proven to be in a sanitary and humane order and records are being properly kept a new kennel license could be issued, at which time Hopkinton Selectmen could hold a hearing to determine if the license should be suspended or revoked. Instead the public hearing will be held first and Greyhound Friends will put their application for a kennel license on hold until after the public hearing, scheduled for September 11th.
