By MyFM's Rick Michaels - When voters go to the polls in two weeks from today they’ll decide to vote Yes or No, on Question “1” calling for nurse staffing requirements at hospitals. It’s a ballot question that has many wondering how they should vote? Supporters like the Massachusetts Nurses Association says a Yes vote will improve patient care opponents, like many hospitals including the Milford Regional Medical Center who's President and C-E-O ED Kelly was in studio yesterday morning, saying the implementation of rigid nurse staffing ratios would have disastrous consequences, in several areas of patient care, including the emergency Department. Kelly says the cost impact of a “Yes” vote on Questions “1” would be about five-million dollars annually with the staffing ratios to be implemented in 60-days, making the hiring of enough nurses a demand that’s not achievable. Kelly and Vice-President of Patients Care Services Judy Kelly provided insight from the standpoint of the impact on Milford Regional during yesterday mornings interview.
