Each year the VFW promotes patriotism and invests in our future generations by holding a nationwide essay contest for students in 6th to 8th grade (Patriots Pen) and an audio-essay contest for students in high school (Voice of Democracy). At tonight's Milford Selectmen's meeting two local students were honored for their essay work in our local district. They shared the honor with 12 other district winners in Massachusetts who were selected among tens of thousands of entries. Congratulations Maren Halpin (Patriots Pen) and Erin Wheeler (Voice of Democracy). The two students were presented with citations for their essays from the state and town at tonight's meeting.
