The Town of Milford Ruth Anne Bleakney Senior Center is open Monday thru Thursday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. & Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Tickets for all events & trips are on sale at the Senior Center.  Please sign up EARLY!

 

Special Events: 

 

Senior Prom:  Friday, May 3 @ 5:00 p.m.  Hosted by the Milford High School National Honor Society.  Join us for an evening of Dinner, Dancing & Door Prizes. Entertainment by DJ Ronnie Auger. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Senior Center.  

 

Mother’s Day Brunch:  Friday, May 10 @ 10:00 a.m.  Come and join us for a spa day. Mary Kay Cosmetics by Meg McCarthy, Chair Massage by Michelle Zale and Caricatures by Tim Snow. Tickets are $5

 

Chinese Luncheon:  Thursday, May 23 @ 12:00 p.m. There will be several raffle items such as gift cards, scratch tickets, gift baskets, and much more.  Tickets are $8.

Breakfast:  Wednesday, May 1 @ 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Topic: Blackstone Valley Technical High School presents on Senior Dental Care.  Tickets are $3.

 

Adult Low Vision Support Group:  Thursday, May 2 @ 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – The first Thursday of each month, the low vision support group meets and welcomes those who are experiencing vision loss or blindness.  Speaker from the Perkin’s Library. If you would like to attend, please come to the Senior Center the first Thursday of each month. No Cost.

 

Healthy Living Luncheon:  Thursday – May 16 @ 12:30 p.m.  Lunch sponsored by Milford Regional Medical Center.  Presentation: Occupational Therapist. Topic: Tips to Stay on Your Feet. $5 refundable

 

Book Club: Tuesday, May 21 @ 10:00 a.m.– “Go Tell It on the Mountain” by James Baldwin

With lyrical precision, psychological directness, resonating symbolic power, and a rage that is at once unrelenting and compassionate, Baldwin chronicles a fourteen-year-old boy's discovery of the terms of his identity as the stepson of the minister of a storefront Pentecostal church in Harlem one Saturday in March of 1935.

Movie:  Friday, May 31 @ 12:30 p.m.  Won’t you be my Neighbor, PG-13, 1 ½ hours.  For over 30 years, Fred Rogers was beamed daily into homes across America. In his beloved television program, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Fred and his cast of puppets and friends spoke directly to young children about some of life's weightiest issues, in a simple, direct fashion. Trips:

 

Boston Museum of Fine Arts:  Depart Center Tuesday, May 7 @ 9:00 a.m. Cost $89.00.  Tour of the Boston Common, State House and Public Gardens. Late morning Luncheon at the Venezia Restaurant (Baked Haddock, Chicken Parmesan or Steak Tips). Then off to the Museum of Fine Arts.  Arrive Center at approximately 5:00 p.m.

 

Cape Cod 105th Anniversary Tour: Depart Center Tuesday, June 18 @ 9:00 a.m.  Cost $89.00. Arrive in Sandwich and visit the Sandwich Glass Museum. At noon, arrive at Daniel Webster Inn for the Grand Buffet (fresh fruit cup with seasonal sorbet, baked rolls, Coq au Vin, Pasta Primavera, Broiled Scrod, seasonal vegetables, apple cranberry crisp with whipped cream, coffee/tea/decaf). (*Menu subject to change.) Following lunch, you will cruise along the Cape Canal for a two-hour narrated tour. Arrive Center at approximately 6:00 p.m.

 

Fosters Lobster Bake:  Depart Center Thursday, July 11 @ 8:30 a.m.  Cost $89.00. First a visit Nubble Light & York Village to shop. You will then travel to Foster’s for a traditional Lobster Bake.  New England Clam chowder, cultivated mussels & Maine clams, lobster w/drawn butter (or BBQ chicken), corn-on-the-cob, roasted red bliss potatoes & onions, blueberry crumb cake. Depart Foster’s and stop at Stonewall Kitchens Where Pigs Fly Bakery and Stonewall Kitchen. Arrive Center approximately 6:00 p.m. 

 

North Shore Theater: Jersey Boys:  Depart Center Wednesday, August 21 @ 10:30 a.m.  Cost $119.00. Luncheon at the Danversport Yacht Club (baked scrod or baked chicken).  Will travel to the North Shore Music Theater for Jersey Boys.  Arrive Center at approximately 6:30 p.m.

 

Granite State Spectacular Featuring Pickity Place & Averill House Vineyard:  Depart Center Thursday, September 5 @ 9:00 a.m.  Cost $89.00. Arrive approximately 10:00 am to Pickity Place, a hilltop hideaway featuring fine dining, themed gardens, and unique shopping experience. You will have the opportunity to experience their culinary gardens or visit their museum and shop. Lunch will follow (menu will be available in June).  Following lunch, you will have another opportunity to further explore Pickity Place. You will then travel to nearby Brookline N.H. for a visit to Averill House Vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. Return Center at approximately 5:00 p.m.

 

New Hampshire Turkey Train:  Depart Center Tuesday, October 8 @ 8:30 a.m. Cost $89.00.  Arrive and board the Scenic Railroad Dining Car. You will travel by Lake Winnipesaukee. Luncheon on the train of Hart’s Turkey Farm roast turkey, whipped potatoes, butternut squash, beverage and ice cream sundae for dessert. Return to the bus for a local foliage tour. Arrive Center at approximately 5:30 p.m.

 

Fitness:

 

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts selected Milford Senior Center to participate in their health insurance pilot program. The pilot began in November and will continue through June, enabling us to offer 3 FREE fitness classes per week: Barre Above™, Strength & Balance/Fall Prevention, and POUND™

 

Milford Senior Center Walkers:  Come and join our walking club.  We meet Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Center to walk the Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail weather permitting. Milford Youth Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  If you would like to walk at the Youth Center, please call in advance at 508-473-1756 to ensure there are no other programs in progress.
