By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Medway Town officials met with senior officials of Eversource last week to talk about the results of a recent service reliability study the town requested regarding a series of recent power outages, in the so-called “Triangle” area of Medway. The Area is located in the northeast quadrant of the town, which neighbors Holliston and Millis. This is an area where residents have had to deal with greater than normal power outages and beginning today work will begin to try and alleviate the frequency of these power outages. The study identified immediate repairs and improvements discovering that 87 percent of the outages were caused by trees/limbs coming down on power lines. The reasons Oak trees were determined to be dying due to the effects of gypsy moths and the 2016 drought. Some 300 trees have been removed over the past two years and 50 additional trees were identified in a review earlier this month, for removal, a process set to get underway today. There will also be upgrades from manual switches to automated switches increasing the ability to sectionalize faults and restore power to customers more quickly.
