By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A discussion will be held on the workings of the newly formed Police Chief Selection Review Committee, when the Milford Board of Selectmen meets tonight. The 12 member panel was put together, after Milford Selectmen in executive session voted 2-1 and without giving a reason to Milford residents, to not renew the contract of Milford Police Chief Tom O’Loughlin, whose contract expires at the end of June. According to the town’s Police Chief Selection By-Law, Chief O’Loughlin and the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Mike Walsh who was the dissenting vote to not renew the Chief’s contract would occupy two of the 12 seats however they both could appoint a designee. The committee has not met yet and no meetings have been scheduled to begin the search process. At the end of tonight’s meeting the Board will enter into Executive Session, to once again discuss with Town Counsel, Police/Collective Bargaining and also be given an update, on the town’s possible purchase of the Milford Water Company.
