By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Commission on Cancer has granted a three year accreditation with Commendation to the cancer program at the Milford Regional Medical Center. It’s only awarded to hospitals that exceed standard requirements and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered cancer care. The C-O-C Accreditation program provides the framework for Milford Regional to improve its quality of patient care through various cancer-related programs that focus on the full spectrum of cancer care. Patients at a C-O-C facility have access to information on clinical trials and new treatments and a number of other services, as well as documenting the care each patient receives with the goal of improving a cancer survivor's quality of life. The accreditation means cancer patients at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center at Milford Regional have access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer care close to home.
