Mobile Shredding Trucks Will Shred Personal Papers on September 15, 2018 from10:00am to 1:00pm

WHAT: ‘Shred-a-Thon’ paper shredding event 

WHERE: Milford Transfer Facility on Cedar Street, Milford, MA 

WHEN: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Saturday September 15, 2018 

WHY: To combat identity theft 

HOW: Area residents can bring boxes of personal documents for shredding by Proshred Security’s mobile shredding trucks. 

COST: No charge for Milford Residents for this service only 

SPONSOR: Milford Board of Health

PHOTO OPS: Proshred’s mobile shredding trucks will be parked at the Milford Transfer Facility parking lot to perform ‘demolition duties’ on site. The shredders on the trucks are industrial-strength machines that can pulverize 1,000 to 10,000 pounds of paper and other media per hour.

STATISTICS: Roughly 7 million people become victims of identity theft every year. That equals 19,178 people per day, 799 per hours, and 13.3 per minute. The incidence of victimization soared 80% between 2002 and 2003, according to a study by Harris Interactive. A survey by the Identity Theft Resource Center indicates that victims now spend an average of 600 hours recovering from this crime, often over a period of years – up from 175 hours three years ago.
