MyFm Wins Community Service Award

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - In a media environment dominated by large corporations and bottom-line priorities, WMRC and now MyFM 101.3 is one of the oldest, continually locally owned and operated radio stations in the country and the station recently won the International Broadcasters Idea Bank’s (IBIB’s) coveted, “Simpson Award for Community Service”.  The elite organization of radio stations from around the world presents this award to one station each year and this year WMRC-MyFM 101.3 was selected to receive this award for many reasons, including raising over $100-thousand dollars for the Oliva Fund for Cancer Care radiothon as part of the Milford Regional Medical Center annual golf tournament. The award was accepted by owner and president of WMRC/MyFM Tom McAuliffe saying “it’s amazing how local radio can still make it happen, it’s the power of local radio combined with interactive and social media.”  The Executive Director of the (IBIB) says the Simpson Award for Community Service is given to one radio station that has shown excellence in local community broadcasting with WMRC/MyFM supporting, sponsoring and participating in more than 75 community events every year.
