Richard L. Guardabascio, 82, of Franklin

Richard L. Guardabascio, 82, of Franklin, formerly of Milford, passed away November 07, 2017 at the Stone Rehabilitation Center in Newton. He was the husband of the late Louise M. (Capece) Guardabascio who passed away in 2002. He was born in Boston son of the late Michael and Susan (Bonani) Guardabascio and lived in Milford before moving to Franklin in 1976. He was a graduate of the Hyde Park High school class of 1954. He served in the US Army. Mr. Guardabascio retired in 1999 from G.T.E.-Sylvania in Needham where he was employed as a support engineer. He was an active member of the St. Mary’s Church in Franklin also serving as an usher.  He was a member of the Knight’s of Columbus attaining 3rd degree Knight, member of the Franklin Art Association, Hoboken Citizens Club and a volunteer at the St. Rocco’s Festival. He was a self-taught artist, and enjoyed woodworking and cooking and baking for his family.  

He is survived by his children, Mark S. Bascio of Franklin, Jean Marie and her husband Mark Cataldo of Franklin, two brothers, Michael Guardabascio and his wife Mary of Grand Junction CO, Thomas Guardabascio and his wife Paula Nedder of Milford, one sister Susan Lamb of Wrentham, three grandsons, Stephen Bascio of Needham, Shane Cataldo and Gavin Cataldo both of Franklin, many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his brother-in- law Paul Lamb. 

A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday November 15, 2017 at 10 A.M. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Milford. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Medway Rd. in Milford Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford MA.
