By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) whose mission is to promote smart growth and regional collaboration will hold a meeting today in Franklin with representative from ten communities, located between Route 495 and 95 and around Route 109. Among the towns that make up the Southwest Advisory Planning Committee, besides Franklin, also includes Milford, Bellingham, Hopkinton, Medway and Millis. The purpose of today’s meeting is to begin the discussions about the future of the region creating a shared vision when it comes to issues such as housing, climate change, land use, economic development, water resources and the environment. The MAPC is a regional public planning agency promoting informed and active cooperation among neighboring communities, to serve the needs of residents,, businesses, commuters and local governments. Today’s meeting begins at 8:30, at the Dean College Campus Center in Franklin.
