By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Milford Board of Selectmen will meet tonight, on the agenda the Town Administrator will discuss with the Board the Police Chief Selection Review Committee which is required to be assembled, under the town's Police Chief Selection By-Law when there’s a vacancy in the position of Police Chief or a vacancy is anticipated. The vacancy occurring when Milford Selectmen voted 2-1 not to renew the contract of Police Chief Tom O’Loughlin, a matter that may be headed to court as the town moves forward to find a replacement. Milford Selectmen will be given an update on the Milford Water Company purchase and will award several citations for Milford Police Dispatcher Jason Covino, along with two other police officers and Milford Firefighters. Dispatcher Jason Covino on his way home from work observed a fire at an apartment residence at 16 North Bow Street and without regard for his own personal safety entered the building and alerted occupants of the fire and got them out safely. Officers Elias Giokas and Jonathan Branch entered the residence as well to help evacuate residents. Milford Police Chief Tom O’Loughlin says their acts are worthy of recognition and praise, they will also receive citations tonight.
