By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Residents of Uxbridge voted against a temporary moratorium on recreational marijuana establishments at last night’s Fall Annual Town Meeting. Those in favor of the moratorium were hoping to get approval to amend the zoning by-laws to delay the process of a pot shop from setting up in Uxbridge until the Spring Annual Town Meeting. Opponents of the article were looking at what the temporary ban could mean, the loss of potential for tax revenue from the new market. The Finance Committee had voted 4-2 against the moratorium believing, in the best interest of the town, more clarity is needed regarding the deadline for town planning and for such businesses looking to move into Uxbridge. Article 4 dealt with a number of capital projects or purchases with residents approving the appropriation of 400-thousand dollars for road maintenance adding onto the tax rate 25-cents or about 77-dollars for a 300-thousand dollar home.
