By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Uxbridge Board of Selectmen and the Finance Committee have made their recommendations on the 15 articles on the Fall Annual Town Meeting, including favorable recommendations for a variety of capital purchases or projects that would be funded by taking money out of the town's stabilization account. Article 4 includes a total of seven appropriations, paying for a variety of items, all receiving a favorable recommendation except for the amount of additional funding being sought for improving police radio communications in town. Selectmen and FinCom members will make their recommendation at Town Meeting. The Town already approved a 300-thousand dollar transfer of money for the requested equipment and an additional 88-thousand dollars is now said to be needed to complete the work. Article 9 will ask Uxbridge residents to approve a temporary moratorium on recreational marijuana establishments, sponsored by the Board of Selectmen. But it received a 4-2 un-favorable action from the Finance Committee with the majority vote believing its in the town's best interest to have clarity regarding the deadline for town planning and for businesses considering setting up a pot shop in Uxbridge. The Fall Annual Town Meeting is next Tuesday night at the Valley Chapel Auditorium, beginning at seven o’clock.
