By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A Special Town Meeting in Uxbridge is now two weeks away when residents will be asked to transfer about 145-thousand dollars from the stabilization account to fund the town’s financial shortfalls. Uxbridge Town Manager Angie Ellison released a financial update last week including a list of work that has been completed work that is on going and work that’s contingent on article 1 passing at the Special Town Meeting. The State’s Division of Local Services (DLS), met with town officials in early December, and there were concerns about the turnover of staff in the financial departments and incomplete audits for numerous years. DLS will not certify free cash and has placed certain restrictions until the completion of various tasks which Ellison says the town is working on and completing. State funding for schools and roads will be impacted, if these conditions are not rectified. Auditors will be onsite on Monday February 4th at which time all work must be completed except for the work contingent on Uxbridge residents approving the transfer of money, a vote to be taken Tuesday night February 5th, during a Special Town Meeting.
