By MyFm's Rick Michaels - The Uxbridge Annual Town Meeting will be held tonight with only eight-articles on the warrant, including two-articles dealing with zoning by-laws for Marijuana establishments and to establish a marijuana licensing authority. The town is asking residents to approve an increase to the number of marijuana facilities, from three to twelve, as the town has had an increase of business requests. The Cannabis Control Commission last week gave approval of a provisional license application to sell recreational marijuana, to Caroline’s Cannabis of Uxbridge which is looking to set up shop on Douglas Road. The Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee and Planning board all unanimously recommended approval of the article and a second article to enable the Uxbridge Selectmen to serve as licensing authority of Marijuana establishments. The Fincom is also recommending unfavorable action for two-articles one requesting a transfer of two and-a-half million dollars from the general stabilization fund to the capital stabilization fund a move aimed at alleviating the possible need of a future override. The other article is a citizens petition, to approve an adjustment to the Fiscal Year 2019 School budget, which was approved by voters three months ago at the Spring town Meeting. The Uxbridge Fall Town Meeting is tonight at the Valley Chapel auditorium, beginning at seven o’clock.
