HOPEDALE - Hopedale’s Interim Town Administrator says if voters had not approved a recent tax override the town would have had to close its Library and Senior Center and make deep cuts in the schools. As we reported last week voters at Town Meeting and a Special Town Election approved a $1.35 million override that raised property taxes on residents and businesses. Interim Town Administrator Jeff Nutting tells the Daily News “the town had no money and had no other option” but to raise the taxes or make the cuts. Read More.

MILFORD - The Milford Board of Library Trustees is set to discuss the criminal charges against member Scott Vecchiolla who was arrested last month in relation to setting some brush fires around Milford. In their posted agenda for Thursday, the Trustees executive session has the discussion as their only item. Vecchiolla was elected to the Library Board in 2021. His term runs until 2024. The city’s attorney has previously said there is no bylaw requiring an elected official charged with a crime to step down from their term. Read More.
