By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Construction work at a busy intersection on Route 140 in Bellingham near the Franklin town line, is beginning to pick-up this week and motorists can expect construction delays throughout the length of the project. The two and a half million dollar construction project will widen the intersection at Route 140 and Maple Street, creating new turning lanes to try to ease congestion in that area. Work will continue as long as the weather permits the traffic signals will also be upgraded with the work continuing in the spring. The project should be completed, sometime next summer. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible the work will be done weekdays from 9am-3pm. A State grant will pay for almost one point seven million dollars of the cost of the two and a half million dollar project in the end, the Town of Bellingham will pay only about 400-thousand dollars.
