By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Residents of Bellingham will have one contested race and one ballot question before them today, as voters head to the polls for Annual Town Election. In a three way race for two seats on Board of Selectmen, incumbents Robert Biagi seeking a second term and Donald Martinis seeking a third term, are being challenged by Kelly Hogan Grant, a Finance Committee and Capital Improvements Committee members for the past five years. Bellingham is also looking to residents to approve a $1.5 million dollar override, for the purpose of funding the operating budget for the schools. School Committee Chairman Mike Reed telling voters at a Community Forum at the end of May, the town’s first ever override request, is needed Reed says the override is the result of increased needs and declining State Aid. Based on an average home value of $324,000 the cost to taxpayers would be about $160 a year. If you’re headed to the polls to vote today a reminder voting at Bellingham High School will only be from 12Noon to 8pm.
