Bellingham Takes Next Step To Ban Marijuana Sales Next Week

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The two-step process to ban Marijuana retailers from setting up shop in Bellingham will be completed when residents attend a Special Town Meeting a week from tonight.  Bellingham Town officials sending out a notice to remind residents that after voting in a Special Election on March 6th, by a margin of 907-to-500 to ban “pot shops”, a final vote is needed at Town Meeting because Bellingham voters approved the statewide initiative that legalized recreational Marijuana.  The Zoning article will be decided at the start of a Special Town Meeting beginning at 7:25 next Wednesday night and following the vote the adjourned October 11th Town Meeting will be completed.  Some capital projects were passed over to be decided on now when the town has a clearer financial picture on the 2019 fiscal budget.
