By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A Superior Court jury yesterday found a Blackstone man guilty of first-degree murder in the 2017 slaying of his 83 year-old father at his home in Blackstone. According to Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr., 50-year old Glenn Armstrong will be sentenced on Monday on the first degree murder charge, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Armstrong was arrested in January of 2017 in New Jersey, one day after his father, Walter Armstrong was found dead in the home they shared at 36 Summer St. Blackstone. An autopsy determined that the elder Mr. Armstrong died of multiple blunt trauma and strangulation. Glenn Armstrong drove to New Jersey in his father’s truck after the murder, and was arrested there on a warrant after his vehicle ran out of gas. Mr. Armstrong was also found guilty of stealing his father’s truck. DA Early says he hopes the family of Walter Armstrong can find some measure of closure from this verdict, and his office did an outstanding job trying this case. Early also praised the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Blackstone Police for their investigation.
