The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra (CHSO) will present the final concert of its “Crystal Anniversary Season” on Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Town Hall Grand Ballroom and audience members can be part of the excitement. “We invite our concertgoers to dress-up, stroll the red carpet, have their photographs taken by local ‘papparazzi’ and enjoy the concert,” said Paul Surapine, CHSO Artistic and Musical director. “Cinema Musicale – A Night at the Movies” will feature music from monumental films such as “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Jaws,” “Star Wars,” “Out of Africa,” “Ben Hur,” “Bridge on the River Kwai,” and more. “Even when movies were silent and the technology wasn’t available for recorded music in movies, audiences, film directors and producers craved instrumental accompaniment, from grand pipe organs, to small orchestras and piano,” said Surapine, “the music stays with the audience often longer than the movie”.
“This year marks the 15th anniversary of CHSO,” said Surapine. “We have been proud to present a diverse variety of music to our wide range of audience members and we appreciate the continued support we receive from the surrounding communities,” he said, noting that patrons come from as far as Boston and Providence for concerts.
Claflin Hill will continue to produce concerts throughout the summer, featuring Claflin Hill’s Tuesday evening tradition of Family Night at the Bandstand, now celebrating its 20th season, as well as many other outdoor concerts that will be performed throughout the region.
This CHSO concert is supported through Claflin Hill Business Partnership grants from: Town Crier Publications, Medway Oil & Propane, Benjamin Moore Paints, the UPS Store, Charles River Bank, Consigli Construction and Hillview Equipment.
Tickets are available for $39 for reserved seating and $25 for students and seniors. For more information, call Claflin Hill at 508-478-5924 or visit www.clafinhill.org.
