Emergency Order To Require The Wearing Of Masks In Public Places

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - An emergency order to require the wearing of masks in certain public places and in every store, workplace or other facility providing essential services in Bellingham is now in effect. The Board of Health, recognizing additional measures are necessary to prevent or reduce activities that increase the likelihood of the spread of COVID-19 issued the order last Tuesday, making the order effective this morning at 6am. In Bellingham all persons over the age of 5 must wear some type of mask when entering any store or building open to the public and every store or workplace, is required to have a sign clearly visible on all doors, saying a facial covering is required to enter and you must adhere to social distancing. The executive order says violators could be subject to arrest and civil or criminal charges, but that would be for anyone who continues to refuse to wear a mask and tries to enter an establishment, the town is not looking to arrest anyone.
