By MyFM’s Rick Michaels - The Franklin Town Council discussing three zoning by-law amendments, aimed at cleaning up some of the gaps in the town’s current sign by-law then Town Councilors approved the amendments at their meeting on Wednesday night. Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting says these are tweaks to the town’s Sign By-Law, which was last updated seven-years ago. Nutting says the proposed changes were discussed at several meetings of the Economic Development Committee and the Design Review Committee, along with town staff to make sure any changes will not hurt the business community. He says the purpose is to provide for the reasonable regulation and control of billboards, signs and other advertising devices within the Town of Franklin, for instance, limiting the number of signs a business can have at any one location. After discussion and review, Town Councilors voted unanimously (8-0) in favor of all three zoning by law amendments moving them to a second reading.
