By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Franklin Town Council gave unanimous support enacting a new streets and sidewalks by-law and approving a resolution to authorize acquisition of new voting machines. The new by-law for streets and sidewalks deals with penalties that have been put into place making it a violation with possible fines for leaving soil, gravel or debris from a construction or other worksite on any Franklin Street or sidewalk. The by-law was prompted by a Maple Street development project where mud and debris was left on the street and sidewalk. The Councilors have also given the green light for the town to purchase nine new tabulator-voting machines to replace machines that have become outdated. The cost is expected to be around 85-thousand dollars.
