By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Franklin Town Council will hold public hearings tonight on three zoning by-law amendments, aimed at cleaning up some of the gaps in the town’s current sign by-law. Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting says these are tweaks with the proposed changes having been discussed at several meetings of the Economic Development Committee and the Design Review Committee, along with town staff to get it right, so as to not hurt the business community. The purpose is to provide for the reasonable regulation and control of billboards, signs and other advertising devices within the Town of Franklin, for instance limiting the number of signs a business can have at any one location. After discussion, Town Councilors will then vote to move the proposed zoning by-law amendments to a second reading. The sign by-law was last updated in 2012.
