WMRC's Ray Auger - One of the many joys and benefits of being connected on Facebook is that you never miss someone's birthday. You can even look ahead and make sure that you never forget a loved ones special day. Thank you Facebook for saving my hide on more than one occasion and thank you Mom and Dad for sharing that information properly on your profile page. Being connected to the local music scene also allows me to share birthday wishes with fellow musicians through various local music groups and pages. Something I admit I have slacked on as of late. So to any local musicians who celebrated a birthday within the six months... Happy Birthday!
So I figured I'd get back into the habit with with a show-boaty, ostentatious salute to Milfordian and Templeton's Holiday frontman Dave Niro. If he wasn't still actively writing, recording and producing such upbeat and fun garage/punk original tunes, I may add a "Happy 50th" and a warm AARP salutation. If we didn't see Dave out and about supporting other local bands and musicians on a weekly basis I may suggest that he stay in tonight and get some rest after an nice early bird dinner and a couple episodes of Matlock. But all kidding aside, Dave seems to defy age like so many of us performing in this local music scene. Many of us welcome a new year whole-heartedly as a reason to rebel against growing up. And Dave is a reminder that you're never too old to rock n roll.
Here's to you Mr. Niro on your 50th birthday! Keep pumping out the fun tunes! Hope you have a great day and find a couple kegs to tap along the way!
