By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Hopedale Police want to remind residents at this time no ice is safe. According to the department’s facebook page a juvenile fell through the ice at the pond in town at around 5:30 Tuesday night. Fortunately the juvenile had researched the sport of ice fishing along with ice rescues and he was able to perform a self-rescue. The ice was tested and measured at one spot at 3.5 inches however, whenever extreme temperatures, like 70’s back to below freezing and now we’re back in the 40’s ice never forms evenly, creating dangerous spots. Hopedale Police say the only ice that is safe to skate on at this time is at the Plain Street ice rink.
