MILFORD - (From the Milford Police Department) On Sunday February 28, 2021 at 8:07 pm the Milford Police Department received a report of an armed robbery at the Smoke Shop located at 9 Medway Road Milford, MA. Two suspects threatened two employees and brandished two handguns robbing the store of a large amount of cash. A third suspect was observed in video waiting outside near the get-away vehicle. Just prior to receiving the call a Milford Patrolman observed the suspect vehicle leave the plaza driving with no headlights at a high rate of speed onto RT 109 travelling east towards RT 495. The officer had turned around his cruiser to pursue the vehicle and then observed the suspect vehicle run through a red light at the intersection of RT 109 and Birch Street. There another vehicle was travelling onto RT 109 from Birch Street with a green light and the two vehicles collided. The officer reports seeing two suspects running from their car towards the back of the building on RT 109 at Birch Street. The driver in the other vehicle received injuries and was transported to Milford Hospital. Police found two handguns in the suspect vehicle along with other evidence to be processed by the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services.
A large search was conducted involving several other police agencies assisting the Milford Police Department in the Birch Street, Beaver Street, Maple Street, Central Street and RT 109 area for several hours to no avail. The following agencies: Massachusetts State Police (Air Wing and K9), Uxbridge Police (K9), Medway Police, Hopkinton (K9), Holliston assisted in the search. Detectives recovered video and picture evidence at the crime scene. Both suspects were described as dark skin males, one 6 feet tall wearing dark pants and dark hoodie with a white emblem. The other was described as 5 foot 5 inches, masked, wearing dark pants, dark knit hat and white or grey colored hoodie. After committing the robbery they left to a waiting car parked in front with another person waiting who was the driver of the car where they later crashed and fled. Dedicated officers from all agencies worked diligently on the case and the Milford Police Department is grateful for all the assistance we had and we say thank you to every officer. Police Detectives will continue their investigation to follow-up leads on the case.
