Main Street Project Moving Forward In Hopkinton

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Main Street Corridor Project in Hopkinton will be moving forward as residents turned back a citizens petition at a Special Town Meeting last night that would have scrapped the $15 million Downtown Improvement Project. Hopkinton residents voting last night 504-278 rejecting a move by the so called “Main Street Alliance” the group opposed to the plans to ease traffic flow and improve safety, along about a one-mile stretch of road in Downtown Hopkinton, citing opposition to proposed easements and saying there was a lack of transparency. The Main Street Corridor Project is expected to begin, following the 2020 running of the Boston Marathon in April. There were also four articles sponsored by the school committee dealing with design and constructions costs for additional classrooms for Hopkinton High School and money for the installation of modular classrooms at Hopkins and Elmwood schools with all four articles passing last night.
