The Town of Milford Ruth Anne Bleakney Senior Center is open Monday thru Thursday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. & Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Special Events:  

Lifelong Learning Series with Dr. Gary Hylander.  Topic:  The Election of 1968 - Monday, March 5 @ 11:00 a.m. FREE EVENT & Lunch

St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon:  Thursday, March 15 @ 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Full course Irish Luncheon of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, soda bread and ice cream prepared by Brenda Needleman & crew!  Irish folk tunes provided by Big Smile Entertainment.  Raffles & Door Prizes!  Tickets are $10 and go on sale Monday, February 26. 

Candidates Forum:  Monday March 19 @ 10:00 a.m.  This provides an opportunity for our senior population to listen to the candidates and ask questions so they can make an informed decision when they vote on Tuesday, April 3.  Coffee and pastry will be served. 

Beginner Genealogy Classes:  Tuesday’s beginning March 20 ending May 1 @ 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (no class April 3 due to town election).  Six 90 minute sessions.  Start, organize, research and write your family history.  Cost:  $20

Intermediate Genealogy Classes:  Monday’s beginning March 26 ending May 7 @ 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (no class April 16 due to holiday).  Six 90 minute sessions.  3 R’s of genealogy – Records, research & regulations. Designed for those who wish to continue the research of their family history.  Cost:  $20

Hidden Treasures:  Tuesday, March 27 @ 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Presented by Richard Goldberg of Marshalls Jewelers.  Enjoy a 10 minute presentation on emeralds & rubies followed by free appraisals on your jewelry. 

Ongoing Monthly Events:

Low Vision Support Group:  Thursday, March 1 @ 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – The first Thursday of each month, the low vision support group meets and welcomes those who are experiencing vision loss or blindness.  There will be a special OrCam Glasses Demonstration.  If you would like to attend, please come to the Senior Center the first Thursday of each month. No Cost.

Breakfast:  Wednesday, March 7 @ 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Sponsored by Summit Elder Care.  Topic:  Senior Care Options.  Tickets are $3.

Healthy Living LuncheonThursday, March 22 @ 12:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m.  Lunch provided by Atria of Franklin – Topic:  TBA   Cost $5 - Refundable. 

Book Club: Tuesday, March 20 @ 10:00 a.m. - “H is for Hawk” by Helen Macdonald.  Helen Macdonald's father died suddenly on a London street.  An experienced falconer—Helen had been captivated by hawks since childhood—she'd never before been tempted to train one of the most vicious predators, the goshawk. MovieFriday, March 23 @ 12:30 p.m. A Dog's Purpose - 2017 PG 1hr 40m. Unfolding through the prospect of a reincarnated dog, this affecting family tale follows the faithful canine as he learns the purpose of his existence through the lives of his numerous owners. Cast: Josh Gad, Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton.                       No Cost & FREE POPCORN

Men’s Group Meeting:  Thursday, March 29 @ 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Guest Speaker:  Authur Bergeron.  Topic:  Senior Issues – Irrevocable Trust, What to do and not to do.


Newport Place House & Cabaret Restaurant:  Thursday, April 5.  Tickets $89.00.  Depart Center 9:00 a.m.  Buffet luncheon at the Cabaret restaurant; Following lunch, the group will walk to the theatre for the show "Exit Laughing." Following the show, you will be escorted back to the restaurant for coffee & dessert and a cabaret show. Arrival back to the center at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Maine's Bull & Claw Lobster Bake:  Thursday, May 31.  Tickets:  $84.00.  Depart Center 8:30 a.m. Following you arrival in Wells, Maine, you will enjoy a lobster feast at the Bull & Claw Restaurant; chowder, mussels, Maine clams, salad, bread & rolls.  Entree choices of lobster, prime rib or cranberry stuffed chicken.  Dessert of hot blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream.  Depart Wells and visit scenic Ogunquit then travel on to Kittery where you will visit "Where Pigs Fly Bakery" for some shopping.  Arrival back at the center at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Spirit of Boston: Boston Harbor Cruise & Luncheon:  Wednesday, June 27.  Tickets:  $84.00 Depart center at 8:30 a.m. You will travel along the Boston Common and then board the Spirit of Boston for a 2 hour narrated tour and a buffet luncheon of Salad, Vegetables, Roast Salmon, Tilapia, Chicken Parm, Meatballs, Baked Ziti, and desserts. Following the cruise, you will then travel to the North End for some shopping.  Return to center approx. 5:30 p.m.

Milford Senior Center Walkers:  Come and join our walking club.  We meet Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Center to walk the Milford Upper Charles Trail.  Indoor walking is available at the Youth Center on Tuesday’s & Thursday’s 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
