Hopedale- Marguerite H. (Carlson) Stanas, 93, of Hopedale died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 in Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford. Mr. & Mrs. Stanas were married for 52 years prior to Carl R. Stanas passing away in 2001.
Mrs. Stanas was a school teacher for the 4th grade at Hopedale Elementary School for 38 years.
Marguerite was born April 21, 1921 in Boston, daughter of the late Eric and Hilda (Carlson) Carlson.
Mrs. Stanas was a graduate of Roslindale High School and Framingham State College.
She was a member of the Union Evangelical Church of Hopedale, Past President of the Upton Woman's Club, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Marguerite was a talented seamstress and enjoyed reading, baking, and water color painting.
Marguerite is survived by one son Ronald C. Stanas and his wife Julie of Hopedale, two daughters Elaine M. and her husband Richard Boardman of Hopedale, and Pamela J. Baldwin of Bristol, RI. She also survived by 6 grandchildren, Chad Boardman, Faye Boardman, Katherine Baldwin, Justine Baldwin, Lillian Stanas, and Dillon Stanas; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Carlson and sisters Barbara Smith and Mildred Hulbig.
Visiting hours will be held Fri., Jan. 2, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Jan. 3, 2015 at 10 AM in the Union Evangelical Church, 25 Dutcher St., Hopedale.
Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Mendon St., Rte. 16, Hopedale.
