Medway Police Remind Residents Of Stalking Awareness Month
  

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Medway Police Department sending out a message on it's Facebook page reminding residents to recognize the month of January as Stalking Awareness month. An estimated six to seven million people are being stalked, in any one year period in the country with nearly 1 in 6 women and 1 in 17 men having experienced stalking victimization at some point in their lifetimes and about half of all victims of stalking, say they were stalked before the age of 25. Medway Police saying stalking is a serious crime and have put a link on it's Facebook page to find out more about what constitutes stalking, the impact it has on victims identifying stalking offenders with the majority of the time, victims are stalked by someone they know. It’s a crime in all 50 states however, less than a third classify stalking as a felony upon first offense more than half of states classify it as a felony, upon the second and subsequent offenses.
