The Milford Board of Health issued $1,500 in three citations in response to the 200-person party along Franklin Street in Milford on Saturday August 22, 2020.
During a pandemic, hosting and attending large gatherings threatens the public’s health and harms the community. The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, is a highly contagious virus, and potentially fatal for some persons. Events of this type have been traced to transmission of COVID-19 among attendees.
While the Milford Police Department responded to a call about this gathering, they witnessed three (3) violations of Governor Baker’s COVID-19 Order No. 46, including infringements of:
social distancing regulations,
mask and face covering regulations, and
the outdoor gathering limit of fifty (50) persons.
Governor Baker’s COVID-19 Order No. 46 permits issuing $500 per violation by local boards of health and other municipal offices. Citations are civil fines, administered as non-criminal dispositions for violations of local by-laws, rules, or regulations.
