The 34th annual Milford Plains reunion is Sunday and Dr. Richard Murray will speak about his father, Nobel Prize winner for medicine Dr. Joseph Murray and his family roots in the Plains section of town. He is the cousin of Selectmen Chairman Attorney Brian Murray. Dr. Murray is a professor in the Department of Earth and the Environment at Boston University and presently on assignment as director of the Division of Ocean Sciences for the National Science Foundation. In this role he oversees a large and diverse portfolio, approximately $350 million a year of ocean sciences research and oceanographic facilities and infrastructure. Dr. Murray will speak at 11am on Sunday morning, just prior to the annual reunion at the Plains Monument on East Main Street. The public is invited to attend.
