Hi my name is Tim Santos and I have Down’s syndrome. I am twenty years old. I am a Special Olympic Athlete and on the council for Special Olympics Massachusetts Project Unify. Project Unify promotes inclusive sports to provide youth with and without intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train and play together as teammates. I compete in track and field, unified sports, soccer, and basketball.
I would like to tell you what Special Olympics and Project Unify have done for me. Through these programs I have made friends for life. My friends eat lunch with me every day! We text and make plans to hang out with each other after school. Unified Sports have made me and other students feel a part of Milford High School. Last year our unified track team won the league championship with our Coach Tim Walsh!!!!!!!!
Playing sports, hanging with my friends, going to dances, proms, and many other social events makes me happy!
Special Olympics have given me confidence to develop my leadership skills and try new things. A lot has changed for me over the past year to give me the courage to speak to others about my experience!
Special Olympics have taught me to never give up!
Like the Athletes Oath Says:
Let me Win
But if I Cannot Win
Let me be Brave in the Attempt!
