The Milford Summer Food Service Program, a collaborative effort between the Milford Area Humanitarian Coalition and the Hockomock Area YMCA, is looking for volunteers during the summer season, Monday-Friday between 11AM – 2PM. The ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese is a plus and some experience working with children, running events, and related programs would also be helpful. There will be a mandatory training at the beginning of the summer to learn more about the program and to meet other volunteers, and all volunteers must fill out required paperwork/complete a background check and participate in CPR/First Aid training prior to the start of the summer. This is a great way to get involved in your community during the summer months, and to help feed the children of Milford!
Milford Summer Food Service Program Volunteer Roles:
Lead Site Volunteer (3+): Will include taking on a leadership role at one of the 3 open sites in Milford, managing other volunteers, collecting meal count data, supervising the area, and being attentive to safety issues. This volunteer should be 18 years or older.
Assistant Lead Site Volunteer (3+): This volunteer will be the assistant to the lead site volunteer, and will help with overseeing site operations.
Activities Coordinator (3+): Will include working with the YMCA program coordinator to plan and run daily activities at summer feeding sites (i.e. yoga, dance, nutrition education, etc.), and managing special guest visitors/programs.
Additional Daily Onsite Volunteers (Unlimited): May include setting up designated site each day for meals, organizing activities for the day, serving meals, talking to parents, cleaning up after the meal is over, etc.
Communications Coordinator (1): May include assisting the YMCA program coordinator with marketing efforts throughout the summer & ensuring families are aware of meal sites and programming options, as well as putting together social media or press release updates, etc.
