Mr. James M. Wilson Jr., 81, of Milford MA died Saturday (February 26, 2022) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy M. (Brown) Wilson, who died in 2020.
James was born in Providence RI, the son of the late James M. and the late Catherine (Barry) Wilson Sr. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s Central Catholic High School in Milford MA.
James was a Viet Nam War US Navy veteran, serving from 1958 to 1961.
James was first employed as a young man for Brown’s Oil Company and also for Friendly’s Restaurants. He later worked as a security officer at the US Army Natick Laboratories in Natick MA, as well as at other locations. Lastly, he was employed as a chair van driver at AMR Ambulance Service.
James was involved with community service earlier in his life when served as a member of the Milford Auxiliary Police Department and also served as a member of the Hopkinton Volunteer Fire Department.
James was an avid CB radio operator and loved attending yard sales & auctions. He loved to travel with his late wife, Nancy, and during his retirement years they would spend time in Delray FL and Laconia NH. But his favorite past-time was spending time with his family members.
James is survived by his daughter: Kathleen, wife of Robert Mahoney of Milford MA; his son: David Wilson and his wife Betsy of Natick MA; his 5 grandchildren: Shawn Mahoney, Shannon Mahoney and Michael Mahoney of Milford MA, Nicholas Wilson of Norwood MA and Christopher Wilson of Natick MA; also 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
His funeral will be held Thursday (March 3rd) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Sandwich MA. A visiting hour will be held Thursday morning (March 3rd) from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Mass.
