Mr. Philip W. Morin Sr., 92, of Milford MA died Tuesday evening (October 19, 2021) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Kennelly) Morin who died this past July.
 
Phil was born in Holliston MA, the son of the late Arthur and the late Lillian (McGee) Morin. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1946. He continued his schooling at the Worcester Vocational School and at the Marlboro Trade School where he studied plumbing. He also received training through the Massachusetts Apprenticeship Training/Department of Labor and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which resulted in him becoming a master plumber; a master gas fitter & a master boiler maker.
 
Phil was first employed as a foreman at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale MA. He then became a foreman at the former Milford Heating & Cooling company. Following that he started his own successful business, Morin Heating & Cooling.
 
Phil spent over twenty-five years as a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard and the US Army Reserves, retiring as an executive officer with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a longtime member of the American Legion; a member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery and a member of the Retired Military Officers Association in their Worcester & National Chapters.
 
Phil was a former member of the Board of Directors at the Milford Federal Savings & Loan, now known as Milford Federal Bank. He was also a longtime member of the Milford Lions Club, where he had served as a past President; a past Zone Chairman and recently named an honorary life-time member. He was also the recipient of the Joseph Carmada Fellowship Award & the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award as a member of the Milford Lions Club.
 
Phil was also a former coach & director of the Milford Youth Baseball Association. He was also a member of the Boosters Club of the former St. Mary’s High School; the Boosters Club of Milford High School; and the Boosters Club of Marywood University Athletic Department.
 
Phil was also a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford and had served as a member of the church’s parish council and the cemetery committee. He was an avid sports fan and loved to travel. He was active in local bocce & bowling leagues.
 
Phil’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care he received from the staff on the Smith Wing of  Countryside Healthcare of Milford, especially from Dilaine, Maggie, Angel, Elaine & Kristen.
 
He is survived by his two children: Dr. James Morin DMD, and his wife Joan of Hopedale MA and Ann, wife of Thomas Costello of Upton MA; his daughter-in-law: Mary Morin of Seabrook NH; his six grandchildren: Kathryn, wife of Anthony Arcudi, Erin Morin, Brian Morin, Kelsey Morin, Tyler Costello, and Casey Costello; his sisters-in-law: Janice Kennelly of Milford MA; Evelyn Kennelly of Milford MA and Mildred Galeone and her husband Nicholas of Upton MA; his brother-in-law: Lawrence Bonetti and his wife Jean of Uxbridge MA; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.
 
He was the father of the late Philip W. Morin Jr., who died in 2003; the brother of the late Doris Lenks; the late Arthur Morin; the late Francis Morin & the late Leo Morin. He was the uncle of the late Arthur “Artie” Morin; the step-brother of the late Anna Todd & the late Rose Arone; and the brother-in-law of the late John Kennelly Jr. and the late Brenda Bonetti.    
 
His funeral will be held Wednesday (November 3rd) at  9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday (November 2nd) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
