Mrs. Elvira “Vera” (Creasia) Cassinelli, of Milford MA, passed peacefully Friday evening (January 21, 2022) at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred S. Cassinelli, who died in 1989.
Vera was born in Uxbridge MA, the daughter of the late Nicholas and the late Theresa (Merolli) Creasia and she attended Mendon public schools. Vera was a longtime resident of Milford MA and had owned & operated Al Cass Inc. of Milford.
Philanthropy was at the very core of Vera’s being. She had donated her time and money to numerous organizations over the years, but the Milford Rotary Club and Rotary International was her number one concern. She had been a longtime member of the Milford Rotary Club, which led to her involvement with Rotary International and actually serving as a District Governor. She was also the recipient of a Paul Harris Award from Rotary.
Vera was also a supporter of the Milford Regional Medical Center and had served as a Corporator for many years. She also was an avid supporter of the Claflin Hill Music Foundation, helping to sponsor their summer concert series.
As a mother raising her young children she had become active in various programs associated with the Boy Scouts of America. She was also active with the Milford Catholic Elementary School PTO, assisting them in various fund raising drives.
Vera also exhibited her community support by teaching English as a second language at the Milford Town Library and by being involved with various fundraising events & programs at the Milford Youth Center.
Vera was also an avid reader, always interested in history & politics. She loved to travel, for Rotary interests & personal interests. She even loved to just take long drives in her car. But her favorite past-time was spending time with her children; her grandchildren & her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her 5 children: Theresa A. “Terri” Gaffney and her husband Gary of Mendon MA; Raymond “Sonny” Gould of Worcester MA; Stephen Cassinelli of Milford MA; Joseph A. Cassinelli of Weston MA and Alfred Cassinelli of Milford MA; her 7 grandchildren: Michelle, Stephen, Samantha, Zoey, J.J., August and Kaley; her 2 great grandchildren: Logan and Kaliana; her 6 siblings: Theresa Twist of Franklin MA, John Creasia of North Smithfield RI, James Creasia and his wife Linda of Bellingham MA, Louis Creasia and his wife Karen of Bellingham MA, Francis Creasia and his wife “Bunny” of Bellingham MA and Jacxqueline Lomuscio of Webster MA; also several nieces & nephews.
Vera was the sister of the late Nicholas Creasia, the late Mary Braccio, the late Joseph Creasia, the late Matthew Creasia, the late Eleanor Hurd, the late Baby Joey & the late Baby Molly.
Her funeral will be held Friday (January 28th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, (UPPER CHURCH)7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Hear Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (January 27th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
