Mrs. Judith A. “Judy” (Papineau) Michna, 80, of Hopedale MA died Monday (December 6, 2021) at Blackstone Valley Health & Rehabilitation in Northbridge MA after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late John D. Michna, who died in 2015.
 
Judy was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Alson and the late Marion (Crosby) Papineau. She attended Hopedale public schools, graduating from the Hopedale Junior-Senior High School.
 
Judy was first employed as a young woman as a secretary for the Hopedale public school system at the high school. She later worked as a waitress at the former Milford Sheraton Hotel. Following that she was employed as a pharmacy technician at the CVS Pharmacy located in Milford MA. And then finally, she was employed as a driver for Hunter Transportation.
 
Judy was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles. She also loved knitting and partaking in ballroom dancing with her late husband Jack. She also cherished her trips to Bermuda with her late husband Jack.
 
Judy was also a member of the Hopedale Unitarian Church and was an active member of the church choir
 
Judy is survived by her two children: Sharon, wife of George Simmons and Jodi Michna; her two grandchildren: Matthew Simmons and his wife Samantha and Joshua Simmons; her great granddaughter: Anna Simmons; her brother-in-law: Kenneth Michna and his wife Pam; her sister-in-law: Dorothy Harris and her husband Chuck; several nieces & nephews; also survived by her three pets: Abby, Gabby & JD.
 
Judy was the mother of the late John D. Michna Jr., who died in 1972.
 
The family would like to acknowledge & thank the staff at Blackstone Valley Health & Rehabilitation and the staff of JHC Hospice of Worcester MA for their compassionate care of Judith during these final days of her life.
 
In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. A Private Graveside Committal Service will be held in Hopedale Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Dog Orphans, Inc. P O Box #767, Douglas MA 01516.
